I'm Early! - Day 3

So, I am undeniably a morning person. Getting up and here to write has been SO helpful for my productivity levels. I love sleeping, but once I'm up... man. I'm on fire. Time to get a snack and a cup of coffee for focus (one day, I'll reconsider getting treatment for my ADHD, but right now coffee seems to suffice).

Goals

Today I will
  1. Write up yesterday's revelation
  2. Edit the start of chapter 3. 

Reflection

11:13 - Writing up yesterday's revelation is taking FOREVER. Writing finicky math is always one of my least favorite things to do. Yet, here we are. I have the two lemmas written up. Now I'm about to embark on the big one (which isn't too big, when you ignore the 20 pages of scratch work it took me to get used to the notation). Straight writing takes forever. I'm going to be PUMPED when this is done.

12:18 - I'm not done writing still... I'm running into difficulties with notation. Part of what I was doing involved changing "D" to .... NOPE!! I'm wrong. By which I mean past Beccah is right. XD. Regardless, this is a tedious thing to type.

21:23 - I think I *finally* figured out this index issue while watching the NBA playoffs with Taco. I'm definitely way too tired to write it up now, so I'll have to do that first thing tomorrow.

    This post is fantastic! You have a fantastic writing style! Your post is easy to read and quite charming. If you're dissertation reads anything like this, it will be AWESOME! This sounds like a great day of work to me--even if it was a bit tedious! Great work!!

Hey Y'all, I am done with working on my thesis. I use the word "done" here not to indicate that it's complete, but rather that I'm exhausted. My brain does not like working on this any more. In the past two weeks, I've overhauled my draft, added another chapter, and made countless images to make the paper more understandable. It's definitely better having been edited, but man. I'm tired. Editing - 26 DTD

Hey y'all! I'm in an editing groove for my dissertation today. I've got a cup of coffee and a couple reviewers (read: my husband and academic siblings) on standby to make sure I'm making sense. My advisor returns tomorrow, so I'm hoping to make this version as polished as possible today. It's going to be a long day, but it will be a good one. Goals Today, I will... Edit chapter 4 for clarity and flow. Edit chapter 5 for content and clarity.  Make figures (if by some miracle I have time). Reflection 10:38 - The Panera in the mall really has come at the best possible time. I work very well when fueled by coffee and bagels, but also it's a major money sink. I've implemented the feedback in chapters 1-3 that Taco gave me, and am about halfway through chapter 4 editing. I Fought the Printer - Day 8

Ahoy Writers! This morning, I printed out a copy of my dissertation. The printer was *not* being cooperative, yet I came out on top after threatening it with bodily harm and realizing that when it said "load tray 1" it meant to put paper in tray 1, not tray 2. BUT! I have my dissertation printed! This makes me extraordinarily happy. It's something tangible, that I can see I accomplished. That's motivating. GOALS Flesh out more of my inductive case argument.  Go through the print out of my dissertation and label wherever I need to do something with post its. Having a plan is essential to success. Reflection 10:31 - UGH. It's only 10:30. I've been writing for an hour and, admittedly, the inductive step is significantly more fleshed out right now. But MAN I don't want to keep writing.
